Hospice Changes Annual Event
Saturday, November 4, 2006

For 24 years, Hospice of Little Traverse Bay has held an event
the first Saturday of November. This event has been primarily an
auction for many of those years but this year, HOLTB has made some
big changes. Based on a survey of past event attendees, HOLTB volunteers
concluded that most attended the event to support the organization
and to enjoy the party atmosphere.
“For the last few years, we’ve seen more and more auction
type events popping up and have found that local businesses are
just so overwhelmed with requests for donated items that we thought
we should really find out why people attend our event,” said
Lisa Ashley, executive director. “Survey responses indicated
that the auctions were great for deals but were not the main reason
people attended or supported hospice.”
So, this year on Saturday November 4, Hospice will throw a new
and revised “Party with a Purpose” to support the completion
of the hospice house campaign. The event will include live entertainment
by local favorites Jelly Roll Blues Band and the ever popular “dine
around”.
Those restaurants returning for the gourmet dine around include:
Birchwood Farms Golf & Country Club, City Park Grill, Chandler’s,
Crow’s Nest, Galley Gourmet, Julienne Tomatoes, Kilwin’s
of Harbor Springs, Latitude Restaurant, Lorenzo’s, Stafford’s
Hospitality, Victories Restaurant, Whitecaps Grill & Spirits.
Several new and improved areas will be included in this event including
a Treasure Chest, Chance Auction and Caricature artist. Cost is
$60 per person, ($50 if reserved prior to October 20th) Reservations
can be made by calling (231) 487-4805.
All proceeds for this event will be put towards our final push
for the Hiland Cottage Hospice Residence.
